Do you know what goes on behind the scenes of a photoshoot? Firstly you have to be an admin guru to make sure you have the perfect location booked, hire a model to fit your brand aesthetic, coordinate what the model will be wearing and of course last but not least you have to book a brillaint photographer.
Luckily for Sam ,owner of Sam Star Shoes, she came to meet Patrick De Mervelec. Patrick a passionate 72 year old Parisian photographer, now based in South Africa has a wealth of experience in many phoographic industries including the fashion industry. Notibly, he was a fashion photographer for many popular industry names like Marie-Claire, Harpers Bazaar, Vogue and l’Officiel. Patrick has even documented political election campaigns for the likes of Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki in South Africa. Now knowing all of his history, imagine our delight when he agreed to shoot the latest collection of Sam Star Shoes.

Behind the scenes Patrick, as we expected was metriculous in his craft. He photographed the model quickly and with ease, knowing exactly how he wanted her shot, the shoot went off without a hitch.

Sam had the idea in mind to do a ballerina inspired shoot because her new summer collection is gracefully feminine with delicate bows and a colour pallete of pastel and nude hues. The model photographed is a professional ballerina dancer and ballet teacher which added all the more to the ballerina shoot theme. Patrick made the shoot a huge success thanks to his background in both dance and fashion photography. This was the outcome:
